PALAWAN: An Enchanting Island
Nature with her boundaries was most generous to Palawan. Viewed from a high vantage point on a cloudless day, Palawan
would resemble a dark-green, furry sea-lung browsing among blobs of water plants. The name most probably originated
from the Chinese who, as far back as the 9th century, knew of it as Palaw-Yu-"Land of beautiful, safe harbor".
You could spend a lifetime discovering new islands, beaches, and reefs particularly around El Nido and Busuanga Island.
Around Puerto Princesa, the capital of Palawan is the Honda Bay ideal for snorkelling and island hopping. Among the
points of interest is the picturesque stretch of a river, running for an unknown length is the Underground Subterranean
River. Then the Tabon Caves, a unique geologic formation with an opening situated 110ft. high up overlooking a bay
studded with islands. You can take a look of the group of beautiful Calamian islands, best for wreck divers where
you will see the Japanese ship WWII remains. Then spend some time to check the Game Preserve and Sanctuary in Calauit
Island. Another exploration is the middle of Sulu Sea, Tubbataha Reef.
