MT. PINATUBO, CENTRAL LUZON: A
World Famous
Trek to the crater of the world's famous Mt. Pinatubo, considered as the most powerful volcanic eruption of the century,
took place on June 15, 1991. It literally blew itself apart, it rained down fine dust and fists sized fragments of
rocks to nearby Angeles, Clark Air Base and Subic Bay.
Among the provinces of Central Luzon is Angeles City. This is where the former American facility, Clark Air Base
is situated. The long stay of the Americans greatly affected the lifestyle of the locals. Sprawling bars and restaurants
are very common there. Their night life became the most famous word-of-mouth in the country.
Way down south of Angeles is San Fernando. A province known for their Giant Lantern Festival during Christmas Season
and their reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ during the Lent.
Near the area is Subic, Olongapo City, where the once a huge US naval complex and the largest support base is located.
Aside from this, the city was also blessed with a beautiful scenery of the Subic Bay. |
