CEBU: The Second Metropolis
Located in the center of the Visayan Island
between the islands of Negros in the east
and Bohol in the west and is 365 miles south
of Manila. Cebu, situated on the air and
sea transport crossroads of the country,
is accessible by plane and boat. The city's
port is the gateway to Southern Philippines'
major destinations.
Cebu is rich with historical sites. One of which is the Magellan's Cross. Planted in April 14, 1521 by Ferdinand
Magellan, this marks the spot of the first Christian Filipinos. Then the Lapu-Lapu monument stands at the battle site
of Mactan's Chieftain Lapu-Lapu and a foreign aggressor Ferdinand Magellan. There is also the Taoist Temple which
preserves the teachings of Lao-Tse, the 600 BC philosopher.
Cebu have numerous attractions for local
and foreign tourist. From relaxing beaches
to cultural museums to old churches. Eventhough
Cebu has been rebuilt into bustling cosmopolitan
as it is today, it is still one of the best
vacation places. |
